MY CLASSROOM

A classroom built on connection

My teaching brings together music, movement, art, writing, and student leadership. Children do more than practice answers: they explain ideas, write problems, create resources, and help lead the learning.

I developed Multiplitoons as a multisensory way to support multiplication-fact recall. The songs are one part of a larger classroom experience grounded in conceptual understanding and flexible thinking.

Our routines  open and close a lesson with accessible entry points and opportunities to go deeper. The approach works alongside a school’s required curriculum.

Every child has something to contribute

A student may find their voice in a song, a drawing, a carefully written story, or a conversation with a classmate. I want each child to know that their ideas belong in the room—and that a mistake never changes their worth.

Start with a Song

Sing, move, and connect memorable words to mathematical ideas.

Math Appetizers

Open the lesson with number sense, patterns, and student leadership.

Think, Explain, Confirm

Personalized spiral review becomes a conversation with two partners.

Students Become Teachers

Students write the problems, lead the three reads, and explain the mathematics.

Math Desserts

Make room for posters, mathematical journalism, quizzes, and new ideas.

A Community Where Everyone Belongs

Build a classroom where mistakes are welcome and help goes both ways.

Your curriculum. Your students. Thoughtful adaptations.

I use the required curriculum while adapting contexts and selecting problems based on what students need. Familiar names, interests, and stories make the mathematics more approachable; careful modeling keeps the mathematical relationships at the center.

See the structure in the story.

Math schemas connect the Problem of the Day, spiral review, and student explanations. Students identify relationships before choosing an operation.
